We believe that progress can be achieved with the team, but more particularly with the involvement of the parents.  At Wordplay Therapy Center, we encourage parental observation during actual therapy sessions to provide immediate feedback and demonstration for follow up at home.

We offer the following:

  • Assessment / Reevaluation

  • Auditory, Speech, and Language Therapy

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Physical Therapy

  • SPED Tutorials

  • SPED Classes

  • Preschool (Nursery 1, Nursery 2, Kinder 1)

  • Saturday Play School

  • Home Programs and Progress Reports

  • Team Meetings

  • Outbound Assessment and Therapy

  • Referral to hearing companies and doctors

One-on-one therapy sessions are most commonly done. Dyad and group sessions are only done upon recommendation of the Developmental Pediatrician, judgement of the therapists, and approval of the caregivers.

Kids with speech condition due to hearing loss/deafness, autism, Global Developmental Delay, Down's Syndrome, cleft lip and/or palate, cerebral palsy, stuttering, childhood apraxia of speech, phonological disorders, and developmental delay acquire speech therapy.

UP Manila is the only university in the Philippines offering Master's in Speech Pathology.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is primarily concerned in helping people participate in everyday activities. For children with special needs, occupational therapy treats the physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities. It also promotes independence by improving the child's fine motor skills, playing, and school performance.

Occupational Therapists

An Occupational Therapist enables adult clients who have lost their skills (due to stroke, head trauma, etc.) to perform day-to-day activities. Occupational therapists also address children with sesory integration issues (tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular). In the Phlippine setting, practice of occupational therapy has a minimum requirement of BS Occupational Therapy course and a PRC licensure.

Special Education (SPED) Services

SPED Teachers

A SPED Teacher is a licensed professional trained to educate children with special needs in a one-on-one basis, small groups, an in classes. In the Phlippine practice, minimum requirement is a undergraduate course that specializes in Special Education, or a non-SPED course with a Masters in SPED. Licensure via PRC is also necessary.

Referral to Developmental Pediatricians

Developmental pediatricians, or DevPeds as they are called in the Philippines, are highly trained and experienced in identifying a range of developmental and behavioral differences. They can evaluate your child’s overall development, provide a diagnosis, and recommend specific treatment plans.  They can also initiate medical evaluations or prescribe medications when appropriate. They also provide long term monitoring as a child moves through different educational settings, assisting with educational programming, behavioral and medical management, and often acting as a care coordinator.

Developmental pediatricians are experts in the management of autistic spectrum disorders, developmental delays, learning disabilities, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and other developmental disorders, and help manage many other developmental and behavioral issues.
